TRS GREEN LENTILS, मसूर की दाल
Green lentils form an important part of the diet in many parts of the world, especially in the Indian subcontinent where many vegetarians live. They are green with a thin skin and lentil-shaped. Lentils are rich in protein and carbohydrates. They are a good source of calcium, phosphorus, iron and B vitamins and therefore replace animal protein in vegetarian diets. Food with green lentils is recommended by doctors for adolescents, pregnant women and nursing mothers. Green lentils are not only used in soups, but are also known to be used as an ingredient in salads, bread nan and mixed vegetables. They are used to prepare a spicy curry, dal dhal, kachori and many other traditional Indian recipes. Green lentils are full of flavour and remain quite firm after cooking. They are also an excellent choice for a salad. One advantage of lentils over other pulses is that they do not need to be soaked before cooking.
